Singapore Blade Runner, me and a small group of runners are organising a fun/easy run on Monday, August 09 2010 morning in conjunction with Singapore's National Day Parade. There will be a few stops in-between the run for photo-taking sessions. The purpose of this run is to celebrate Singapore's 45th Independance Day and at the same time to keep fit and bring runners from the running community closer together.

The start and end point of the run will be at MOE CCAB Stadium at 21 Evans Road. The total distance of the run will be less than 8km (exact distance to be confirmed). Most of the run will take place in the Singapore Botanical Garden.

Meeting point will be at MOE CCAB Stadium. Briefing and warm-up will commence at 7.30am which is compulsory for all participants to attend. The run itself will start at 8.00am.

To get to CCAB Stadium, for those going by -

1. buses to CCAB are: 48, 66, 67, 151, 153, 154, 156, 170, 171, 186. Alight at Bukit Timah Road, nus (bus-stop) or Dunearn Road, after Kheam Hock Road bus-stop. Walk towards CCAB running track, beside NUS Law/Bukit Timah Campus. See map below.


2. by cab, alight at MOE CCAB itself which is at 21 Evans Road.

3. by own vehicles, you may park your vehicles at NUS Law/Bukit Timah Campus but do take note that there are parking tolls.

During the run, there will be pacers (to lead the running tempo) and sweepers (to assist the stragglers) in the running groups. Remember, this is not a race; no medal or awards will be given for fast runners.

Take note (Disclaimer & Indemnity):

1. No storage will be provided for baggage. Though you may leave your belongings at CCAB Stadium sitting gallery, we (the organisers) will not be responsible for any items/valuables missing before, during and/or after the event.

2. Only 1 water point will be provided which will be located at the start/end point of the run which will be at CCAB stadium. Participants are advised and encouraged to hydrate sufficiently before participating in the event and also, to bring their own water-bottles or any other form of refreshment or hydration-fluids for the event.

3. Participants are to be responsible for their own safety and well-being. Parents, guardians and adults whose kids/children are participating in the event, are to be responsible for their safety and well-being too. There will not be any medics, ambulance and security officers for the event.

4. Before attending this event, participants are to consult their doctor to make sure that they are in clean bill of health to participate in the event.

5. In the event of inclement weather, we (the organisers)  have the rights to delay, postpone and/or cancel the run.

We (the organisers) will not be responsible for any lost or damaged items/valuables, injuries and/or deaths that may occur before, during and after the event. All  participants that want to join in the run, must sign an indemnity form before they are allowed to participate in the event. Indemnity form will be given out on the day of the event before the briefing and warm-up commence.

Since this is an informal event, do not expect high-class or frill-free organisation and/or treatment.

To further create a sense of carnival-like event and also to form a unity in the running community, we have decided to do event t-shirt. Thus, I took the responsibility of designing the event's logo and t-shirt. The logo is already shown above, whereas the t-shirt is shown below.


I just managed to squeeze in a couple of hours in-between my training sessions to draft-up the design for the NDP Run logo as well as the t-shirt. As you can see, the design is not really fanciful but it is bold and aesthetically pleasing. The design is done in 1 colour and it will be printed on a plain dri-fit short-sleeved t-shirt to reduce production cost.

The t-shirt will be ready from Thursday, August 5th. For those that participating in the NDP Run, you may collect the t-shirt on the event day itself on August 9 at CCAB stadium from 7am to 7.30am. Payment in cash must be made during collection.

As for self-collection before the day of the event, location/date/time are as follow -

Thursday, Aug 5th, between 2pm to 4pm at Blk 296, Yishun St. 20 or between 5pm to 6pm at CCAB Stadium

Friday, Aug 6th, between 10am to 3pm at Blk 296, Yishun St. 20 or between 5pm to 6pm at CCAB Stadium

However, if you would like the t-shirt to be posted to you, additional cost of SGD2.50 will incur for postage and handling and it only applies for local addresses in Singapore and for maximum of 2pcs of t-shirt. For orders of more than 2pcs and for overseas addresses, please e-mail me at 1armrunner@gmail.com to find out the postage and handling, and shipping prices. We deeply apologise for not able to cater to needs for those that were requesting for sleeveless tees/vest/singlets due to the short lead time as this event t-shirt idea was conjure up quite late and thus, the apparel manufacturer do have sufficient time to produce the apparels. Hopefully, if the event is still on for next year, definitely we will offer these types of apparel for the event.
